This is a hippocampus. It is an equine that has the rear of a fish.  This is a basilisk. Isn't it just the cutest little thing you've ever seen? Watch out, if you make eye contact, It's magical ugliness will kill you.  This is a wiggle larvae, the most dangerous hazzard in Xanth. What happens is a female wiggle has to find a nesting site and then mates with a male, when the eggs hatch, there are thousands of things that look something like this, that "wiggle" all over the pace, and if anything just happens to be in the way, ZAP!! right through whatever it was. for more detail, read Vale Of The Vole, Dragon on a pedastil, or A Spell For Chameleon. 
This is Marrow Bones, a skelleton that can change into almost anything with a kick to the pelvis. he is from a hypnogourd and therefor isn't alive, and can't be killed. this makes him a valuable companion for a jorney. He was first introduced into the Xanth series in Vale of the Vole, when Esk was trapped in a gourd and found the lost path, with marrow on it, and he "unlost" marrow. 
this is a vole, a hampster-like creature that can dig like mad. they dig by using special talons that they can put on. they have many different kinds of talons, one for almost every situation you can think up!!
